Journey to Mars where Mars Explorations Rovers have operated successfully for over one full Martian year or two Earth years. Spirit landed in Gusev Crater about 10 km from the center of the target ellipse and Opportunity landed in Meridiani Planum on the other side of the planet three weeks after her twin rover Spirit. both rovers carry out similar geological work examining rock and soil for the evidence of the area's history of water.
